Terms

A financial scholarship will be awarded to one (1) graduating high school senior within the Commonwealth of Virginia.   A viable candidate is one who displays leadership, ambition to succeed, and a desire to serve their community.

 

The selected recipient shall receive an award of $1,000.00. The application period will open on February 15, 2026 and will close on May 1, 2026.  Late applications will not be considered.

 

Application Requirements:

 

• Must be a graduating senior from a high school within the Commonwealth of Virginia 

   

• Acceptance Letter to a Two (2) Year College or Four (4) Year University/College (SUBMIT)

   

• Official High School Transcript (SUBMIT)

   

• 400 Word Essay OR Video of 3 minutes or less (SUBMIT)

1. Over the last year, the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have sparked national debate about civil liberties in the United States.  What is the proper balance between national security, immigration enforcement, and civil liberties, and how should agencies like ICE and DHS uphold that balance?​

2. Should public policy focus on equality (treating everyone the same) or equity (addressing different needs and circumstances )?  Explain your position and provide examples. 

3. Does the American legal system provide equal justice for all?  If not, what reforms would you recommend to ensure fairness and accountability?
